Links
I hope you find these websites at least as useful as I have. Some of them I've
listed because they look neat, but may not have intensively examined.
Of course, I can't vouch for the content of any of these sites.
Charity
- A Drink for Tomorrow: Works to
raise money for establishing clean drinking water for people who don't have it.
(I looked around the website a bit, and it seems legitimate,
although little is said about how they establish clean drinking
water...)
- Bread for the World: Their slogan is,
"Have Faith. End Hunger."
- Catholic Relief Services, serving people who
need relief, I suppose. The U.S. Catholic churches sometimes allow spokesmen for
this organization to talk about it and request donations at the end of Mass, so I
suppose this is a well-known organization.
- Compassion, apparently a Protestant
organization that helps children in poverty. I don't know much about it, and they
seem kind of hoaky, using phrases like "releasing children from
poverty".
I get the impression part of what they do is seek to plant Protestant churches,
but they seem also to be active in AIDS treatment and prevention, so maybe they're
a good organization worth looking into. I dunno.
- Help Us Dry the Tears:
Humanitarian endeavors for impoverished children of former-communist Eastern
European countries, centered around the Divine Mercy revelations given to St.
Faustina
- Kiva: Make microloans to help impoverished
people better their situations.
- Learn To Be:
Free online tutoring for
grades K-8
, particularly for those in communities receiving less education
than others, according to Wikipedia
- Cam Neely Foundation: Provides
support of various kinds for cancer victims and their families, and funds cancer
research. (I browsed the site briefly and didn't find any
mention of immoral research practices, so I was altogether impressed.)
- Fledgling Wine: Proceeds from wine
purchases fund impoverished children's literacy.
Human Rights
Abortion
- AfterAbortion.org, a website
providing
information on the
aftereffects of abortion and post-abortion healing
- ClinicWorker.com, a website urging the
staff of abortion
facilities to follow their state laws concerning the protection of minors
- OptionLine.org, resources for women
in crisis pregnancies
- Priests for Life, an organization seeking to unite Catholics in doctrine and action
- Tennesseee Right to Life, Tennessee's campaign to save
people from abortion, which has killed more in the USA since its legalization than the entire deathtoll of
World War II
Violence
Religion
Society
- Chastity.com: The New Sexual Revolution is
Here. A website with much information regarding chastity, human sexuality,
contraception, and relationship advice from a Christian perspective, they
particularly write to teenagers (applicable to young adults and often
everyone).
- FirstRight: An organization to help you
effect change if you are punished for exercising your right to breastfeed a baby
in public in the USA.
- GraceWay Recovery: A place for women to recover from alcoholism or other drug abuse.
- Hands of Truth, a website connecting
Catholic Christians to social engagements, fellowship and community service.
- The Porn Effect, a website talking about the effects of pornography.
Science
- Steve Sque's Personal Website: I know
nothing about this guy except what I read from one of his webpages, but I found his
list of LaTeX symbols useful and thought it neat that other science enthusiasts have
personal websites (although his might be for commercial use).
